Tell me about the hotels in San Juan?
Hotels in San Juan can be tricky. Tricky in the sense that they sound or appear close to all the action (addresses look the same) - but in reality, the hotels could be on the other side of the island and that means more cab fare.
If you have never been before or it's been awhile...DON'T WORRY! We have cherry-picked the propertied that we KNOW are good to go. By using them you will save on cab fare and the unneeded headache of trying to learn the language.
What are the main areas I should know about?
One thing to know is most restaurants, clubs, etc. (except several hotels) in San Juan are minutes from each other. San Juan is broken up into two (2) places: San Juan and Old San Juan.
Old San Juan - is where you will find many of the clubs San Juan- is where you will find most hotels and all the real shopping. Prada, Feringomo's, Gucci and so on are in this area.
Anything I should know before I arrive? Yes
- Although no passports are required, bring a valid ID.
- Most signs, menus, etc. are written in Spanish. No worries though, almost everyone speak conversational English.
- Most restaurants include gratuity in the bill, but make sure you inquire.
- At the airport, on your return home, you will have to go through customs. Mostly they are looking for wild animals and forbidden fruits.
- If you see people jumping off mini bridges don't freak out, it's what they do there for fun. It's actually kinda cool, you may even try it.
- Stay in our hotels... you will save yourself a lot of aggravation.
